FAQs

What are the differences between the types of neck designs on Premier Equine rugs?

Original – This design has no neck cover and does not include attachments for one. It’s a simple, classic cut ideal for horses who don’t need extra coverage.

Detachable Neck – These rugs come with a removable neck cover, allowing you to clip it on or take it off depending on the weather. It gives great flexibility throughout the seasons.

Combo/Storm – A full neck cover that is permanently attached to the rug. It offers maximum protection against rain, wind and cold, without any gaps between rug and neck.

Hardy Neck – A half-neck design, permanently attached to the rug. It provides extra coverage over the withers and shoulders, while leaving the upper part of the neck free for more airflow and freedom of movement.

How do I measure my horse for a Premier Equine rug?

We recommend measuring your horse from the centre of the chest to the furthest point of the hindquarters, extending nearly to the rail. This is especially important for turnout rugs, as they are known to be generous in size, particularly the Buster and Akoni rugs, which feature a high shoulder gusset which will add a little extra length to the overall fit.

What’s the difference between the Premier Equine Buster, Titan, Stratus and Akoni turnout rugs?

Titan Rugs (1680D)
The toughest in the collection, Titan rugs use 1680 denier ballistic nylon for maximum durability. Built to withstand the harshest weather and the roughest field use, they’re ideal for horses who are particularly hard on rugs or live out in extreme conditions.

Buster Rugs (840D)
Made from 840 denier ballistic nylon, the Buster range is the perfect everyday turnout rug. Strong, waterproof, and breathable, it’s versatile and available in multiple weights (light, medium, and heavyweight) to suit changing seasons.

Stratus Rugs (600D Diamond Triple Weave)
Constructed from a 600 denier diamond triple weave fabric, Stratus rugs offer strength and resilience while remaining lightweight and flexible. They are ideal for milder conditions or for layering as part of a rugging system, combining durability with comfort.

Akoni Rugs (600D)
Similar in durability to the Stratus range, Akoni rugs are made with a lightweight 600 Diamond Triple Weave denier outer. Designed for practical everyday use, they provide reliable coverage in moderate weather conditions.

Can I wash my Premier Equine rug?

Yes, our rugs can be machine washed at 30°C. After washing, lay them flat to dry naturally and avoid tumble drying or placing them near direct heat, as this may damage the rug’s waterproof membrane.
