How it works
Mouthpiece. 14mm, double jointed, with curved cannons angled forward to follow the shape of the tongue. The lozenge lies flat on the tongue rather than standing upright between tongue and palate, so tongue pressure is spread across the width of the tongue. There is no nutcracker action and nothing reaches the palate.
Cheek piece. The bridle cheekpiece attaches to the upper loop and the rein to the lower loop. When the rein is taken the bit is raised in the mouth and pressure is applied to the poll, which gives additional control without moving to a stronger mouthpiece. The action is similar to a ring bit but milder, which is why the bevel has long been favoured for ponies and junior riders. The main ring still runs through the mouthpiece, so the release of a loose ring remains underneath the leverage. Both loops are bent outward, away from the face.
